Alaska Airlines Strengthens Leadership with Two Key VP Appointments

Boosting safety and engineering excellence across the skies

Alaska Airlines (ticker ALK, traded on the NYSE in the airlines/aviation sector) has elevated two seasoned executives to pivotal vice president roles within Alaska Air Group and its subsidiaries. Brooke Vatheuer steps in as senior vice president of safety and audit programs, overseeing critical safety and aviation security across Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Horizon Air and McGee Air Services. In her former role, she conducted internal audits and led strategic operations—her promotion reflects a renewed commitment to rigorous oversight.

Allie Wittenberger, now vice president of audit programs for Alaska Airlines, will spearhead enterprise-wide audit and assurance initiatives aimed at tightening financial, operational, and technological controls. A CPA with a rich background in audit and compliance since joining the company in 2010, Wittenberger brings deep institutional knowledge to her new mandate.

Earlier this year, the airline also named John Wiitala as vice president of maintenance and engineering. Trading under ALK on the NYSE, Wiitala brings 34 years of experience from United Airlines to manage maintenance for over 237 Boeing aircraft and sharpen safety and compliance standards across multiple bases.

These leadership moves reinforce Alaska Airlines’ strategic focus on safety, operational integrity, and international expansion. With Brooke, Allie, and John at the helm of critical divisions, shareholders and travelers can expect a fortified assurance of quality and reliability across the airline’s growing network.
